Current Team

Andy is our 17-1’s coach. He began playing competitive volleyball at the age of 12 in the central New York area.  He played modified, junior varsity and varsity volleyball at the Central Square school district.  He was a starter on the modified team for 1 year, junior varsity team for 2 years and a four year varsity starter under coach Kay Barton.  During his time as a varsity starter, he set many school records that still stand today, helped lead his team to 4 Section Six championships, made the CNY Second Team in 2002 and the CNY First Team 2 years in a row (2003-2004).  He also obtained 5 CNY Player of the Week and 1 CNY Player of the Year Awards between his junior and senior years. Andy also played travel club volleyball from 1999 – 2004 for the Salt City Spikers.  As a Spiker, he led the team to two top 10 finishes at the East Coast Championships in 2003 & 2004. Andy also played for the Central scholastic and open teams during the 2002-2006 Empire State Games, where he continued to set CNY records on the way to three 2nd place finishes.

Andy went to college at RIT, where he studied Software Engineering and Information Technology.  During his free time, he also played D2 club volleyball for the RIT Tigers.  In 2007, he helped lead the team to their first top 10 finish at the Men’s Volleyball D2 Championships, receiving the teams Most Outstanding player and made the 2nd All-Tournament Team.  Andy continues to play today, both indoor & beach.

Andy’s coaching accolades are not nearly as verbose as his player accomplishments (yet).  Andy started as an assistant coach for the girls high school varsity volleyball team from 2001-2004.  He also assistant coached the girls 17-2’s team at Extreme VBC in 2014.  Finally, Andy was the head coach of the Pace Bootlegger 14-2’s boys team in 2016.
