Eric Gruner’s love for the game of volleyball started in 1979 when he was in high school and played on an adult league team his dad had formed, since there was no boy’s team at his school. He played in league tournaments as well as on the beach splitting his time between indoor hardcourt and outdoor sand. In his 20’s Eric joined the Sundowners club as a middle hitter and competed in numerous tournaments on the east coast. At one point, between leagues and practice, Eric was playing volleyball 5 nights a week and competing in tournaments on the weekend. He continues to play in senior tournaments on teams from the US and Canada and was an outside hitter on the KAV team out of Buffalo that won the Gold Medal in the 50+ division at the 2017 National Senior Games.
